McKenzie's Raiders

Blue Ghost Scout Platoon, 1967-68. Photos by Victor Cook. Vic was an original Blue Ghost and made these photos while serving as a scout crew chief/door gunner. He had the film developed and sent to his home in Kansas where the slides lay in repose for 39 years. In 2007, his sister found the photos and sent them to him. He had the slides scanned and put on a disc at Walmart, then forwarded them to us for publishing online.This collection was originally on the MSN site and is now in the photo albums.

Carter's Service Memories 1966 to 1988

Photos by Carter Davis, Blueghost 1967-68. I am an original Blueghost who deployed to Vietnam aboard the USNS General Nelson M. Walker. I was from Parma, Missouri and served as a crewchief & door gunner on a UH-1C gunship. On 5 May 1968, in combat operations near Landing Zone (LZ) Center, I and my door gunner, SP5 Black, were hit by .51 caliber machine gun fire and wounded. We both were medically evacuated to Japan. CPT Ron Grooms was the Aircraft Commander (AC) and the gun Platoon Leader. CW2 Smith was the Pilot.

Does anyone have his name, I talked to him about 20 years ago and know he lives in my local area. He was in VN 69-70 time frame.
It's hell when your memory goes.
