  5. John,       There is now a page for the DFC list. Links There are now fifteen names on the list.  I added the names from 1967-68, according to my records. I am sure there are others.  The first on the list, Billy "Mac" McKenzie is now deceased.  The second on the list, Joe Johnson, was my door gunner and I don't know his whereabouts.

Thanks for posting my name. Your memory (or your files) are truly impressive. Some of us (including me) got an OLC also. My 2 awards were 30 days apart and were, from memory, in the same grid square (along the base of the hills on the south side of the Que Son valley - where Mike Chambers got shot down and SGT Bradley died, where Jack Shanahan got shot down, where Terry Rippy got shot, where Ron Sprinkle got shot - I could go on). Reflecting on those facts says a lot about the course of the entire war in microcosm I think....

  7. Red, Thank you Bill!  You created a sharp looking page in tribute to our Blue Ghost DFC recipients.  I will always appreciate your interest in perpetuating Blue Ghost history.  John B.

  8. Thanks Red mine was for action in the HiepDuc Valley on April 30, '70.  Also you can add Mike Austin.  He got 2 I think in '71,'72.  Someone who has contact with him could check for sure.  I haven't talked to him in several years.  I know he was on one of the first flights to take SAM fire.  We lost 3 birds in about 30 minutes and as Mike put it "I never saw higher than 50ft. after that.  Just thought you'd be interested   BlueGhost Two-Zero Bob Drury

  10. James Sheridan has been added to the DFC list. He relates that he was recommended for the DFC in the spring of 1969 by Muff Handley and a ground commander, but did not get the award until he had rotated back to the states and the only paperwork he now has is his DD214. He did not mentioned it before because he could not locate his citation. Citations are not necessary. If you or someone you know served in Blue Ghosts and was awarded the DFC, please let us know and we will add their name to the list. No documentation is necessary, I will take your word on it.
