had to

                 Just Forward It

A man is dining in a fancy restaurant and there is a gorgeous redhead sitting at the next table.  He has been checking her out since he sat down, but lacks the nerve to talk with her.

Suddenly she sneezes, and her glass eye comes flying out of its socket toward the man.  He reflexively reaches out, grabs it out of the air, and hands it back.

'Oh my, I am so sorry,' the woman says as she pops her eye back in place.

'Let me buy your dinner to make it up to you,' she says.

They enjoy a wonderful dinner together, and afterwards they go to the theatre followed by drinks.  They talk, they laugh, she shares her deepest dreams and he shares his.  She listens.

After paying for everything, she asks him if he would like to come to
her
place for a nightcap and stay for breakfast.  They had a wonderful, wonderful time.

The next morning, she cooks a gourmet meal with all the trimmings. The guy is amazed.  Everything had been SO incredible!

'You know,' he said, 'you are the perfect woman.  Are you this nice to every guy you meet?'

      'No,' she replies . . .

      Wait for it. .

      It's coming. .

The suspense is killing you, isn't it?

      She says

'You just happened to catch my eye.'

(Oh, shut up, and just forward it!)

I could not Confirm this with Snopes

According to an Air Force pilot in addition to communicating with the local Air Traffic Control facility, all aircraft in the Persian Gulf AOR are required to give the Iranian Air Defence Radar (military) a ten minute 'heads up' if they will be transiting Iranian airspace.

This is a common procedure for commercial aircraft and involves giving them your call sign, transponder code, type aircraft, and points of origin and destination.

I just flew with a guy who overheard this conversation on the VHF Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai. It's too good not to pass along. The conversation went something like this...

Air Defense Radar: "Unknown aircraft at
(location unknown), you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself".

Aircraft: "This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace".

Air Defense Radar: "You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft".

Aircraft: "This is a United States Air Force F-22 fighter, send'em up, I'll wait".

Air Defense Radar: ...(no response, ...total silence)...

.ExternalClass .EC_hmmessage P {padding:0px;} .ExternalClass body.EC_hmmessage {font-size:10pt;font-family:Tahoma;} I flew with WO Opeim and Shanahan and LT Reed on numerous occasions. Towards the end when Maj Marrett lost his gunner I was selected and Johnny Rhone was the crew chief. I also flew with Huggins from TX when I first arrived in Pleiku. I had already been in country and joined the unit in Pleiku before we left with Maj Burden to go to Chu Lai. We were attached with the 1st of the 9th Air Cav before they departed to Da Nang and we took over their hq on the beach by the Medivac. I was there when the Marine air base ammo dump blew to kingdom come... We flew to Tam Ky which was overrun and we shot them trying to get throug the barbed wire fence when we tried to refuel. I remember doing daisy chains over the ocean until first light. I have read about Johnson. He and I were listed in his home town paper on some event where we got some kills. I kept the clipping. I lost all my piasta and MPC. What a shame. After a break in service I joined a medical unit and became the logistics officer then went to desert storm for a year 90/91. I was with a combat support hospital--the hundred hr. war. I retired as a high school English teacher and USAR Maj Logistics Officer. I am currently working at Customs and Border Protection at Thousand Islands in upstate NY Alexandria Bay NY on Wellisley Island.

It is so good to see many of the soldiers that I served with. They probably don't remember me because of my joining later.

Brady who was shot when Shanahan went down wrote to me. I always wondered if he made it. Secrist was my best friend. He and I had guard duty together and he was shot down and killed that day. I have always felt bad that he died so tragically.

I always wondered what happened to Huggins and Johnny Rhone.

I used the blueghost website you sent to me and was I shocked, went to the Que Son site and read the report about me getting shot down on 16 Mar. 68 and even saw the photo of the remains of my chopper, wow! Even read the resuce and even sadley read the report of my good friend Louis Bradley dying in a crash, met him at Ft. Campbell in 67 while serving in a recon plt with th 101 Airborne. Do you know of anyway I can find out how many missions I flew and how many hours flight time I had? WO1 Shanahan was my pilot that day and on my second tour I was with the recon plt of E Co. 3/1 11th bde Americal working off of FSB 4-11 from Dec 69 to Nov 70, anyway while in the bush we would get resupplied by the same chopper, pilots name I later found out was named Shanahan, always wondered if it was the same man, heard after we were shot down he stopped flying gunships and flew slicks, well anyway thanks for the ifno, and a great welcome home to you also. It is with a heavy heart that I am contacting you and the fellow Blue Ghosts to tell you all that my Ron Nishita, your brother and comrade, passed away suddenly on Thursday July 10th. He was such a fighter and survived so long and endured so much. He lived with the scars of Vietnam but lived a full life with such vigor. From fishing to golf to bowling his perfect 300 game. He wore proudly his Blue Ghost cap and although he missed the reunion, he so wanted to go but his breathing issues had impacted any travel abilities. He zoomed up and down the halls of the VA in his mobile chair like it was a corvette. He didn't wallow in his condition, he persevered. I wish he could have reconnected with all you Blue Ghosts and swapped stories and better times at your reunions. I am crushed by the emptiness he has left with family and friends and I am sorry too that you have lost another Blue Ghost.

This is John Brennan, active member of the VHCMA
and the 114th Avn Co Assn. I'm collecting
"nicknames" (i.e. FLYING COFFIN,IRON BUTTERFLY) that
in-country Army copter crews painted on their aircraft
during their Vietnam tours, 1961-73. Future book by
aviation publisher is in the making.
Have cataloged over 1,900 names to date. I expect
that number to exceed 2,500 when complete. Would very
much like to include as many personalized Blue Ghost
copter names as possible. Photos of "names" are fine
but not necessary to be included in the database
section of the book. "Names" alone will do.
The second part of this book project is the photo
collection of helicopter "nose art" that includes
"names", artwork, graffiti, everything & anything that
was painted officially and unofficially on in-country
Army copters, 1961-73.
Send "nickname" info and/or scanned "nose art" pics
to johnmailman@yahoo.com
Regards, John
Brennan, former SP5, 114 AHC,
Flight Operations Coordinator, Vinh Long AAF, Mekong
Delta, 1970-71

Billy Gene Williams

U.S. Veteran A memorial service honoring the life of Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Billy Gene Williams will be held at 10:30 AM on June 28, 2008 at Park Hill Baptist Church, Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The service will be conducted by Reverend Erby Burgess assisted by Reverand Free Clower.

Billy passed away peacefully in the presence of his wife and son at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home on June 12, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Born March 24, 1933 near Trumann, Arkansas, he attended Ouachita Baptist University where he met his wife, Norma Stephens Williams. At Ouachita, he played football, basketball and tennis. After graduation in 1955, he began a distinguished career in the United States Army.

During his 23 years of active duty, he served one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. As a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, he was recognized for heroism under enemy fire and awarded the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart. After retirement from the Army, he taught part-time in the Business Departments of Ouachita Baptist University and Henderson State University both located in Arkadelphia, AR. In addition to spending time with his family, “Daddy Bill” (as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren) enjoyed tennis, bridge, reading, officiating high school football and travel.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia, his father, Sherman, his mother, Jewell, and two brothers, Robert and David.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Norma Stephens Williams, his son, Dr. Michael R. Williams and wife Beth, of Shreveport, his daughter, Dr. Karen P. Bullington and husband Kirk, of Woodstock, GA, grandchildren, Kaitlin, Matthew and Sean Williams, Ashley, Emily and Wesley Bullington, his sisters, Joy Marie Hughes, Linda Franks, Diane Tschabold, Kathy Younts and Becky Croom, his brothers, Charles Croom, Wayne Croom and Tim Croom.

The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent and compassionate care provided by Dr. Roy Fleniken, medical director of the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home. The family also wishes to thank the following physicians for their excellent care: Dr. Mark Mainous, Dr. Michael Rainer, Dr. Michael Sewell, Dr. Sanjeevi Tivakaran and Dr. Michael Walton as well as the excellent nursing and ancillary care provided at Willis-Knighton Bossier, the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home, and Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Bullington-Williams Pre-Med Scholarship Fund at Ouachita Baptist University (www.obu.edu) or Park Hill Baptist Church, 3333 Hollywood Road, Arkadelphia, AR 71923.

Arrangements are by Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia. Visit www.welchfh.net to sign the online guest book and view the video tribute.
