It is with a heavy heart that I am contacting you and the fellow Blue Ghosts to tell you all that my Ron Nishita, your brother and comrade, passed away suddenly on Thursday July 10th. He was such a fighter and survived so long and endured so much. He lived with the scars of Vietnam but lived a full life with such vigor. From fishing to golf to bowling his perfect 300 game. He wore proudly his Blue Ghost cap and although he missed the reunion, he so wanted to go but his breathing issues had impacted any travel abilities. He zoomed up and down the halls of the VA in his mobile chair like it was a corvette. He didn't wallow in his condition, he persevered. I wish he could have reconnected with all you Blue Ghosts and swapped stories and better times at your reunions. I am crushed by the emptiness he has left with family and friends and I am sorry too that you have lost another Blue Ghost.

  3. Elayne:   There are no words that can ease the pain of your loss; however, take comfort in knowing that Ron has joined the elite Brotherhood of Arms that is our ultimate destiny.  All of us fellow Vietnam Veterans, and Veterans of any War or Conflict, mourn the earthly loss of our comrades-in-arms, but rejoice in the knowledge that we will rejoin in brotherhood.  May time ease the pain in your heart.   With you in Arms,   Ernesto Nuncio

  4. Dear Elayne, I am personally very sorry to hear of Ron's passing. I was F/8th's medic the night Ron was hit. I tried to do what I could for him. It is a testament to his character and strength that he survived that night and made a life for himself and others. God bless.
